A long-running political feud between Nsawam Adoagyiri MP Frank Annoh-Dompreh and Municipal Chief Executive Fummey Selorm Philibert has flared again, this time over the reroofing of Nsawam Presbyterian Basic School after its roof was ripped off by a rainstorm on Thursday.
The MP engaged contractors to begin repair works using part of his share of the District Assemblies Common Fund. Separately, officials from the Municipal Assembly led by the MCE and NADMO personnel arrived at the school to supervise what they described as a different intervention.
According to the MCE, the Assembly insists the rehabilitation must follow required administrative and procurement procedures before public funds can be released for materials and execution of the project.
Speaking to the media, MP Frank Annoh-Dompreh said he was surprised by the development. He claimed the Assembly and the MCE took no action immediately after the incident, but only showed up once he decided to intervene. “That is not fine,” he said.
Annoh-Dompreh disclosed that he has reported the MCE to the Local Government Minister, accusing him of repeatedly causing disturbances whenever the MP undertakes projects to support his constituents.
“This is not the first time,” the MP warned, adding that the MCE “may not take it lightly the next time” if the conduct continues.
The clash adds to a protracted rivalry between the two public officials in the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipality.
