US President Donald Trump has called for the cancellation of the Freedom 250 festival, which is set to celebrate the country's 250th birthday, after several artists withdrew from the lineup. In a post on Truth Social, Trump criticized the remaining performers as 'overpriced' and 'boring,' prompting him to suggest that the event should be scrapped altogether. Originally, nine artists were announced for the festival, but as of Sunday, only Vanilla Ice, Milli Vanilli, and Flo Rida remain scheduled to perform. The festival, organized by Freedom 250—a group launched by the Trump administration—claims to be non-partisan, despite its ties to the White House. Trump is now contemplating replacing the festival with a 'Make America Great Again' rally. The Freedom 250 festival is part of a series of events planned for America's significant anniversary, with the president expected to headline the opening ceremony. Meanwhile, America250, a bipartisan organization established by Congress, is also planning its own commemorative events across the country, including celebrations in major cities on July 4th. This situation highlights the ongoing tensions between political affiliations and cultural celebrations.
