The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested two men in connection with the armed robbery at the GOIL filling station in Kwafokrom near Nsawam on Sunday, May 24, 2026.
The suspects, identified as Amos Boame and Collins Adjei, were picked up following investigations into the incident. Police say a third suspect, known only as Ashivie, is on the run and is being pursued for his alleged role in the attack.
Police recovered several items from the suspects, including an Alder Tupal pump-action gun with serial number 245A-12944, an electronic shocker, a cutlass, and a bulletproof vest. The items are being held as evidence.
During the robbery, the suspects shot a security guard and a pump attendant who had taken shelter in an office at the station. Both victims are now in stable condition.
The robbers made away with GH¢13,460 in cash and stole provisions from the station’s shop. The value of the stolen provisions has not yet been determined.
Officers who inspected the scene retrieved nineteen spent cartridges and one live round of ammunition.
Police say efforts are underway to arrest other accomplices involved in the robbery and bring them before court.
The Command has urged residents to remain calm, noting that it is working with filling station managers to strengthen security measures and prevent similar incidents.
The statement was issued by DSP David Fianko-Okyere of the Public Affairs Unit, Eastern South Regional Command.
