Nii Lante Vanderpuye has resigned as National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) to pursue a national executive position in the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a statement confirming his resignation, Vanderpuye said the move was driven by his wish to serve the party and Ghana in a new capacity.
“This decision is driven by my desire to continue serving our party and country in a different capacity, while contributing to the strengthening of our democratic traditions and institutions,” he said.
The resignation comes just days after Vanderpuye told _Citi Eyewitness News_ he was ready to contest for NDC National Chairman if incumbent Johnson Asiedu Nketia opts not to run again.
Vanderpuye thanked President John Dramani Mahama for entrusting him with the DRIP role, calling his tenure an honour and privilege. He highlighted the programme’s impact on upgrading local infrastructure and improving livelihoods in communities nationwide.
“It has been a great honour and privilege to serve as National Coordinator of a programme dedicated to transforming local infrastructure and improving livelihoods across our communities,” he stated.
He stressed that leaving DRIP does not mean stepping away from public service. Vanderpuye reaffirmed his loyalty to the Mahama administration and the core values of the NDC.
“I remain fully committed to the vision of President Mahama’s administration and the core values of the National Democratic Congress,” he said.
He also expressed gratitude to staff, stakeholders, and partners who supported DRIP’s rollout, adding that he remains confident in the programme’s future.
The move by the former Odododiodio MP signals a key political shift as the NDC prepares for upcoming internal elections and party restructuring.
