Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has expressed confidence in Antoine Semenyo's ability to play a pivotal role in the Black Stars' pursuit of advancing beyond the group stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Ghana, a four-time African champion, aims to achieve its first knockout-stage appearance since 2010, following group-stage exits in the 2014 and 2022 tournaments. Semenyo, who has made significant strides in European football, is expected to be a key player in Ghana's attacking lineup. Agyemang-Badu emphasized the importance of allowing Semenyo to thrive without pressure, stating that he should enjoy his football while contributing to the team's success. The Black Stars have commenced their preparations in Cardiff, with 22 players currently in camp ahead of a friendly match against Wales on June 2. Head coach Carlos Queiroz is set to announce the final squad shortly before the match. Ghana has been placed in Group L, alongside Panama, England, and Croatia, with their campaign kicking off against Panama on June 17.
