Angelique Kidjo Becomes The First African To Honored At Hollywood

Benin-born music star Angelique Kidjo has become the first Black African to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the famous sidewalk in the US city of Los Angeles that honors leading names in music, film and entertainment. At the ceremony, the five-time Grammy winner celebrated Africa’s influence on music around the world, saying the continent’s contribution is often underestimated. The 66-year-old was also praised for her humanitarian work through the Batonga Foundation, which supports girls and young women across Africa.
