The Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, has urged senior officers of the Ghana Armed Forces to show adaptive leadership and anticipate future security threats.
He said Ghana and the sub-region are facing a fast-changing and complex security environment which requires constant review of strategies and operations.
Lt. Gen. Agyapong was speaking at the ongoing Ghana Armed Forces Generals' Convention being held on the theme: "Adaptive Leadership in a Complex Security Environment: The Role of Shaping the Ghana Armed Forces."
According to him, the convention is meant to encourage strategic reflection, institutional learning and stronger leadership among the top hierarchy of the military.
He said the generals, with their decades of collective experience, must use the platform for frank discussions on the future of the Armed Forces.
The CDS noted that effective senior leadership thrives not on same thinking, but on open, professional dialogue that builds unity of purpose.
He therefore charged the generals to constructively challenge ideas, share experiences and remain humble despite rank and experience.
Lt. Gen. Agyapong stressed the need for jointness in modern military operations, calling for integrated planning, coordinated execution and a common strategic vision across the Services.
The seminar is discussing key areas including intelligence and management of classified information, military justice, release and retirement, ethical leadership, command experiences and military administration.
He said the engagement goes beyond reviewing procedures, but seeks to reaffirm the core values of the Ghana Armed Forces and keep its leadership responsive.
He urged the senior officers to continue to uphold duty, honour, integrity, discipline and selfless service.
