The Court of Appeal has dismissed an application for stay of proceedings filed by Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Ekumfi in the ongoing SkyTrain trial.
Prof. Ameyaw-Ekumfi, former Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF) and second accused in the case, had asked the Court of Appeal to halt proceedings at the High Court pending the determination of his appeal against the High Court's decision to dismiss his submission of no case.
The Court of Appeal, however, held that the applicant failed to demonstrate exceptional circumstances to warrant the grant of the relief sought, and ordered that the trial should continue in its normal course.
With the injunction application by the first accused and the stay of proceedings application by the second accused now dealt with, the accused persons are expected to open their defence by September 23, 2026.
