The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation says it will leverage the leadership of the Joint Cybersecurity Committee to develop a digital fraud model to strengthen Ghana's response to fraudulent activities across digital platforms.
The initiative was announced by the Deputy Minister for the sector, *Mohammed Adams Sukparu*, at the opening of the 2026 National Cybersecurity Awareness Month for financial institutions.
This year's awareness month is on the theme: _Ghana's Digital Finance Ecosystem Through Collaboration and Cyber Resilience_, running from *1st to 31st October*.
Mr. Sukparu said disruption in the digital finance space can affect customers' funds, livelihoods and confidence in digital transactions.
"No institution can address this risk in isolation. Banks, telecommunication operators, fintech companies, regulators and law enforcement agencies need secure channels for sharing relevant threat information and coordinating responses," he said.
He noted that when one organization identifies a new fraud pattern or suspicious transaction trend, timely and responsible information sharing can help others take preventive action.
The Deputy Minister also stressed the role of citizens, saying users of mobile money, internet banking and other digital financial services should be able to recognize suspicious messages, protect their credentials, verify requests for payment and report suspected fraud through appropriate channels.
