The Ministry of Health in Ghana has activated national emergency health protocols across all 16 regions in response to a potential Ebola outbreak. This decision follows a comprehensive operational tour by the Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, who assessed the integrity of border surveillance and emergency preparedness at key international gateways. The tour included inspections at the Accra International Airport, the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, and the Ghana Infectious Disease Centre. The urgency of this mobilization is heightened by the World Health Organization's declaration of the Bundibugyo Ebola strain as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. During the inspections, the minister emphasized the need for advanced, non-contact digital detection methods to improve passenger screening and reduce human error. He also stressed that public cooperation is essential for effective health management and directed all relevant institutions to implement strict health measures immediately. This proactive approach aims to ensure the country's readiness to handle any potential health crisis effectively.
