The Ghanaian government has officially launched the National Film Development Fund at a star-studded ceremony held at Silverbird Cinemas in Accra. The fund, valued at GHC 50 million, is designed to support local filmmakers with grants, production equipment access, and international distribution partnerships. Industry leaders praised the initiative as a turning point for Ghana's creative economy, which has long struggled with underfunding despite producing internationally acclaimed content. Applications for the first round of funding are expected to open in June 2026.
