Former Attorney-General *Godfred Yeboah Dame* has pushed back on claims that the Akufo-Addo government was to blame for the acquittal of former MASLOC CEO *Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu*.
In a press release dated *July 31, 2026*, Dame said any notice of appeal allegedly filed by Sedina in *2024* was irrelevant because she did not pursue it.
*“In any event, even if an appeal was filed by Sedina Attionu in 2024, it is completely immaterial because no further step was taken by her as the accused/appellant until the NDC came back to power,”* he stated.
According to Dame, the Office of the Attorney-General under his tenure was never served with any notice of appeal. He said state attorneys only became aware of the proceedings in *April 2026*, after the Court of Appeal directed parties to file written submissions.
He explained that his main responsibility was to secure Sedina’s extradition to Ghana to serve the 10-year sentence handed down by the High Court.
*“I thus took the important step to pursue an extradition request. The competence of my extradition request was upheld in the Order of the United States District Court of Nevada on 9th April, 2026,”* he said.
Dame added that Sedina’s lawyers only obtained leave to file written submissions on *10th February 2026*, and filed them on *12th February 2026* — a period when he was no longer in office. He noted that prosecutors were “surprised” when served on *16th February 2026* because there had been no prior notice.
The former AG accused the current administration of orchestrating the acquittal to clear NDC members.
*“The development is consistent with the predilection of the Attorney-General to discontinue all cases which were being prosecuted against leading members and affiliates of the NDC,”* he said, describing it as creating *“two sets of law”* in Ghana.
He called the Sedina case *“the closest Ghana has been to a re-enactment of the Woyome Scandal.”*
Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu was convicted in April 2024 on 78 counts including stealing and causing financial loss to the state, but was acquitted and discharged by the Court of Appeal in 2026.
