GoldBod rejects GH¢1 billion overdraft allegation as false and malicious

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has rejected claims that it owes the Bank of Ghana an unpaid overdraft of GH¢1 billion, describing the allegation as false and malicious.

In a statement issued from its Head Office at 1 Thorpe Road, Accra, GoldBod said it has taken note of a claim by the Member of Parliament for Tano South, Hon. Dr. Gideon Boako, to that effect.

"This claim is totally false and forms part of the deliberate and malicious smear campaign against the GoldBod," the statement said.

For the records, GoldBod stressed that since its establishment, it has never at any time taken a loan, overdraft or any debt instrument from the Bank of Ghana or any financial institution whatsoever.

The Board further described the claim attributed to Dr. Gideon Boako as contrived and said it should be treated with utmost contempt.

"We entreat the MP to unequivocally retract and apologize for putting out this falsehood," the statement added.
