One of the lawyers for Salomey Awiti Baffoe, Enoch Afoakwa, has expressed extreme disappointment after her case was adjourned to Monday, October 5, 2026, due to the Association of Judges and Magistrates Conference.
Speaking to journalists after court proceedings today, Mr. Afoakwa said the court ought to have known that the Association will be having a conference from today through the weekend when fixing the date for hearing.
According to him, as a result, his client, Salomey, will have to remain in custody until Monday when the court returns to sit.
"This is a sad situation that the liberty of an accused person cannot be decided because Association of Judges and Magistrates are on a conference. It is very sad," he lamented.
Mr. Afoakwa added that the adjournment means Salomey's three children - a 4-year-old, a 9-year-old and a 15-year-old boy - will be unable to see their mother until Monday when the court makes a determination.
"From today to Sunday Association of Judges and Magistrates are having a conference. Let's pray for Mother Ghana," he said.
