Africa's Richest Man, Aliko Dangote, has lauded President John Dramani Mahama for turning around Ghana's economy in a very short time.
Speaking at the "Accra Reset: Full Circle - Making Global Development Work Again" event, on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly in New York, Mr. Dangote said President Mahama's quick economic recovery has shown that money follows trust.
"Let me first of all appreciate and congratulate my brother, His Excellency President John Mahama for actually turning around the economy of Ghana in a very, very short time," he said.
"This has actually shown that money follows trust. It wasn't a very good case but when he came in he didn't do any magic, he's not a magician but he did the right things and people really have a lot of trust in him and that's why Ghana's economy turned around," Dangote added.
He congratulated President Mahama, who was seated in the audience, as participants applauded.
Mr. Dangote also used the platform to advocate for easier intra-African travel and investment, questioning why it is easier for Europeans to visit Africa than Africans themselves, and why Africans still face visa barriers to visit each other on the continent.
