The Ministry of Health inducted Ghana's first cohort of professionally trained mortuary attendants and environmental health workers.
This milestone addresses historical reliance on apprenticeships and equips workers with regulated standards in infection prevention, environmental safety, and the preservation of human dignity.
The first cohort of formally trained mortuary attendants was inducted into the health sector in Accra to uphold strict ethics and confidentiality.
The Mortuaries and Funeral Facilities Agency (MoFFA) is introducing licensure exams to phase out traditional apprenticeship and establish uniform practice standards.
Over 500 funeral and mortuary workers have received specialized training in Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) to safeguard public health.
On the occasion, the mortuary workers also urged government to release their unpaid salaries and Personal Protective Equipment( PPE) to ensure smooth and effective delivery.
