NACOC Shuts Down Amsterdam Pub At Laboma, Arrests Three Over Suspected Drug Activities

The Narcotics Control Commission, NACOC, has shut down the Amsterdam Pub at Laboma in Accra and arrested three persons following an intelligence-led operation.

The operation was carried out overnight on Friday, September 4, 2026, after intelligence suggested the facility, which operates as a self-styled coffee shop, was allegedly being used for narcotics-related activities.

This was contained in a statement posted on NACOC's official Facebook page on Tuesday, September 8.

According to the Commission, the three suspects arrested are currently in custody assisting with investigations to establish the full extent of activities at the entertainment facility.

However, the prime suspect believed to be linked to the alleged drug activities is still at large, with additional intelligence officers deployed to track and apprehend him.

NACOC said the pub has been closed to allow for thorough investigations and to prevent the premises from being used to facilitate further narcotic-related activities while the case is being pursued.

The Commission noted that the operation is part of its broader intelligence-driven efforts to identify, disrupt and dismantle locations and networks suspected of facilitating the distribution, sale and use of illicit drugs.

It has cautioned owners, managers and operators of pubs, nightclubs, lounges and other entertainment centres against allowing their premises to be used as conduits for drug activities, warning that it will continue to clamp down on businesses engaged in the sale, distribution or facilitation of illicit narcotic substances.
