NDC Suspends Awutu Senya East Constituency Chairman for 5 Months Over Petition

The Functional Executive Committee [FEC] of the National Democratic Congress [NDC] has suspended Mr. Stephen Ofosu Agyare, Constituency Chairman of Awutu Senya East, for five months with immediate effect.

The decision was communicated in a letter dated *22nd July 2026* and signed by the NDC General Secretary, Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey.

According to the letter, the FEC considered a petition lodged against Mr. Agyare by the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Hon. Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor, together with recommendations from the Central Regional Council of Elders contained in letter COC/CR/001 dated 20th July 2026.

After deliberations, the FEC said it found sufficient basis to invoke *Article 48(4) and Article 48(6)* of the Party’s Constitution.

*“Accordingly, you are hereby suspended from your position as Constituency Chairman of Awutu Senya East Constituency for a period of five months, effective immediately,”* the letter stated.

The FEC has also referred the matter to the National Disciplinary Committee for further investigation and appropriate action.

During the suspension, Mr. Agyare has been directed to *refrain from performing any functions or exercising any authority as Constituency Chairman* until the matter is finally determined or otherwise directed by the Party.

Copies of the petitions from the MP and the report from the Council of Elders in Central Region were attached to the letter.
