NPP National Organiser Race: Salam Mustapha Withdraws

Aspiring National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has withdrawn from the contest.

In a letter dated September 9, 2026, addressed to the Chairman of the National Officers Elections Committee, Mr. Mustapha formally announced his decision to pull out of the race.

He described the decision as a difficult one, given the encouragement and overwhelming support he received from party members, delegates and well-wishers across the country, but said circumstances beyond his control made it impossible to continue.

Mr. Mustapha stressed that his withdrawal does not diminish his commitment to the NPP, adding that his dedication remains firm and he will continue to work towards the unity and rebuilding of the party and to make Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia the next President of Ghana.

He thanked all who believed in his vision, appealed to his supporters to accept the decision in good faith, and said political positions may come and go but commitment to the NPP must remain greater than any individual ambition.

He wished the party and all candidates well in the internal elections, ending his letter with his favourite Bible verse, Psalm 23: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want..."
