The Ghana Police Service says it has arrested two men for making comments deemed to incite violence and offend religious sentiments.
In a joint operation with the *National Signals Bureau*, police arrested *35-year-old Masud Abdullah* over a video circulating online. According to police, Abdullah, who is an Imam, allegedly made statements calling for violence against anyone who speaks ill of Prophet Mohammed while preaching at a mosque in *Ntensere, Atwima Nwabiagya North District* in the Ashanti Region.
In a separate case, the *Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team* arrested *Daniel Junior Yaw Adjei, alias Apostle Daniel JY Adjei*. He was picked up after another video surfaced showing him making derogatory and offensive remarks about Prophet Mohammed.
Police say investigations are ongoing and both suspects will be processed through the legal system.
The Service also used the opportunity to caution the public, especially religious leaders, preachers, community leaders and social media users, that *freedom of religion and freedom of expression do not cover incitement to violence*.
“Such inciteful utterances constitute infractions and perpetrators will be arrested to face the full rigours of the law,” the statement said.
