The Minority in Parliament has called on government to publish full and verifiable data on all drug seizures, arrests and prosecutions since January 2025.
The Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, Hon. John Ntim Fordjour, who addressed the press on behalf of the Minority, said government must provide real-time data with primary sourcing so that Ghanaians no longer learn about the state of their own borders from foreign customs officers.
According to him, the fight against drug trafficking is not a partisan matter.
“We say to the Majority this is not a partisan matter. The trafficker does not check party cards. The young person destroyed by addiction does not ask which side of the house his Member sits on,” he stated.
Hon. Fordjour called on Members from both sides of the House to support the motion, stressing that if government is confident in its record, it has nothing to fear from the truth.
“If it is not, the people of Ghana deserve to know why. We will be in the Chamber and we intend to see this through. History will judge this Parliament by what it does today,” he added.
