The Mid-North Ghana Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church has appealed to all its churches to dedicate special prayer time for one of its members, Sister Salomay Baffoe Awiti.
In a letter dated September 17, 2026, and addressed to all churches, the Conference said Sister Awiti, a senior nursing officer in Techiman in the Bono East Region and a staunch member of the church, has reportedly been remanded in police custody in connection with an alleged national issue.
The letter, signed by the Executive Secretary, Job Owusu-Ansah, called on churches to designate a special time during worship services on Sabbath, September 19, 2026, to pray for her release.
"We write to humbly appeal to all our churches to designate a special time during the worship services on Sabbath, 19 September 2026, to cry to the God of heaven in earnest, united prayer for the release of our dear sister, Salomay," the letter stated.
The Conference said its greatest response as a church family at this time is to seek the face of God on her behalf, urging every church to set aside a period for fervent prayer, intercession and spiritual support for Sister Awiti, her family and all persons involved in the matter.
It also cautioned members to approach the issue with love, compassion, confidentiality and Christian maturity, and to avoid speculation or statements concerning matters that have not been established.
Quoting James 5:16, the letter said "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."
"Therefore brethren, let us stand together as one church family and lift Sister Salomay Baffoe Awiti before the throne of grace. May our prayers become a source of strength and encouragement to her and her family at this challenging time," it added.
