The trial judge in the Republic v Solomon Asamoah & Another (SkyTrain case) has adjourned the case management conference for the defence to Monday, October 19 at 10:00 am.
The case management conference for the defence was scheduled for today. However, Counsel for the first accused (A1), Mrs. Victoria Barth Esq., submitted that there is a pending certiorari and prohibition application filed by the 1st accused person at the Supreme Court, which seeks to restrain the court from further hearing the case.
She argued that since the determination of that application will decide whether the present case continues or not, the court should grant a short adjournment to abide by the decision of the Supreme Court.
Even though State Prosecutors indicated their willingness to proceed with the business of the day, the trial judge granted the prayer of Counsel for A1 and adjourned the case to Monday, October 19 to abide by the decision of the Supreme Court in the certiorari application.
The certiorari application is scheduled to be heard on Tuesday, October 13.
