The Member of Parliament for Takoradi, Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, has represented the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, as Guest Speaker and Keynote Speaker at the 11th Ghana-Nigeria Leadership Summit and Achievers Award.
The event was held on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at the Watercress Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
Speaking on the theme "Uniting for Africa's Development: Celebrating the Impact of Outstanding Personalities Across the Borders of Ghana and Nigeria," Hon. Darko-Mensah delivered Speaker Bagbin's message of brotherhood and unity between Ghana and Nigeria.
He told the gathering that Ghana and Nigeria are not rivals, but two hands of the same body, called to carry Africa's destiny together.
Quoting the wisdom of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Kofi Annan, Prof. Wole Soyinka and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, he called for deeper trade relations, freer movement across borders, greater investment in the youth, and a deliberate effort to tear down the fences of division that colonialism left behind.
He also paid glowing tribute to the organizers, RNIGO, for sustaining the bridge between Accra and Lagos for eleven years, and congratulated all outstanding achievers honoured at the ceremony.
