"THESE IMPROVEMENTS ARE THE DIVIDEND OF SOUND ECONOMIC MANAGEMENT" - FINANCE MINISTER TELLS GHANAIANS

The Minister for Finance, *Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson*, says the fall in inflation, lower interest rates, and a stable cedi are delivering real relief to households and businesses across the country.

Addressing Parliament during the *Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review of the 2026 Budget* on Thursday, July 23, 2026, Dr. Forson said the improvements are the direct result of competent economic management.

*"I now wish to speak directly to everyone listening to me this afternoon. To the market trader whose power has improved because inflation has fallen. To the entrepreneur who can now borrow at lower interest rates to expand their businesses and to the worker whose income now stretches further because the city has stabilised,"* he stated.

The Finance Minister acknowledged that the sacrifices made to restore the economy were significant and that many households continue to face challenges.

However, he said the foundations of Ghana's economy are now firmly in place.

*"We recognize that the sacrifices required to restore the economy were significant and that many households continue to face challenges. But we also know that the foundations of Ghana's economy are now firmly in place. Fiscal discipline has been restored. Macroeconomic stability has retained. Confidence has been rebuilt and the institutions needed to safeguard these things have been strengthened,"* Dr. Forson said.

He added that under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, Ghana is moving forward.

*"Under the leadership of his excellency President John Dramani Mahama Ghana is not going back. Ghana is moving forward,"* he told the House.
