Three suspects have been apprehended in connection with a violent attack in the Tempane District of the Upper East Region, which resulted in the murder of a man and injuries to the newly enskinned chief of the Tindorunga community. The incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. on May 26, 2026, at Worinyanga, as Sambin Halidu and his family were preparing for his enskinment ceremony. Armed assailants invaded the family home, firing indiscriminately and setting ablaze a family vehicle. One victim, Iddrisu Sumaila, later succumbed to gunshot wounds at the hospital. The arrested suspects, identified as Majeed Bawumya, Milla Justice, and Majeed Awudu, were taken into custody during a police operation on the same day. A search of Bawumya's residence yielded a firearm, sharp objects, cash, and mobile phones believed to be linked to the crime. Initial investigations suggest the attack stemmed from a dispute over the enskinment process, with opposing factions threatening to disrupt the ceremony. The police have called for calm among residents as they continue their investigation to capture additional suspects.
