Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, is urging both Ghanaian and foreign investors to put their money into the country’s tourism, hospitality, fashion and creative sectors.
In an interview with Clementine Hazeran, Regional Director of One World Media USA Today, Gomashie said government is working to make Ghana investor-friendly and to establish the country as West Africa’s top destination for tourism and cultural business.
She noted that Ghana presents huge opportunities and assured investors of government backing to set up and grow their ventures.
A major focus for the ministry, she said, is expanding hotel infrastructure and creating a top-tier training institute for tourism and hospitality. That, she believes, will improve service standards and strengthen the sector.
The Minister also appealed to Ghanaians, especially the middle class, to support domestic tourism by joining organized tours and exploring the country.
“Patriotic Ghanaians should invest in Ghana,” she said, while adding that attracting foreign capital is equally important for growing the creative economy.
Gomashie described Ghana’s hotel industry as having massive potential for growth, and invited local entrepreneurs as well as international hotel chains to increase their presence.
On fashion, she said Ghana is fast becoming a fashion hub, with rich cultural heritage, talented designers, and a growing market. She called on both local and global fashion brands to invest.
She also urged streaming platforms, music labels and recording studios to tap into Ghana’s creative industry. Ghanaian musicians and filmmakers, she said, are gaining more global recognition and need more investment to scale.
According to the Minister, government sees tourism, culture and the creative arts as key to driving economic growth, creating jobs, and supporting sustainable development. The goal, she added, is to make Ghana Africa’s gateway for heritage tourism, culture, business and investment.
Clementine Hazeran, for her part, praised Ghana’s hospitality, saying the warmth and friendliness of Ghanaians make the country attractive to both tourists and investors.
