Vetting of ministerial nominees Mahama Ayariga and Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings rescheduled to Thursday, August 27

Rainbow News can confirm that the vetting of two ministerial nominees, Mahama Ayariga and Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has been rescheduled to Thursday, August 27, 2026.

The vetting, which was initially slated for today, Tuesday, August 25, has been rescheduled.

The vetting of the Supreme Court Justice nominees could come off tomorrow, Wednesday, August 26.

On Monday, August 24, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, referred the nominations of the two Members of the House for ministerial positions to the Appointments Committee for vetting.

Mahama Ayariga and Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings were to face the Committee today, together with two other nominees to the Supreme Court.

Mahama Ayariga has been nominated to the position of Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, while Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings heads to the Ministry of Environment, Science, and Technology.

Their appointments follow a reshuffle by President John Dramani Mahama on August 7, 2026.

Substantive Local Government Minister Ahmed Ibrahim was moved to the Ministry of Works, Housing, and Water Resources. The Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, was nominated to the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs.

President Mahama also nominated Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings as Minister-designate for Environment, Science, and Technology.

This announcement was contained in a press release issued by the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on August 7.

The Works and Housing Minister, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, was reassigned to the Ministry of Defence.

This is the first ministerial reshuffle in President John Dramani Mahama’s second term in office. On August 26, two other nominees to the Supreme Court will have their turn.
