The Member of Parliament for Walewale, Hon. Dr. Abdul Kabiru Tiah Mahama, has commenced the drilling of mechanized boreholes in ten communities across the constituency as part of his commitment to addressing the persistent water challenges facing residents.
In a statement shared this week, the MP said the intervention is in fulfillment of his promise to prioritize access to clean and safe drinking water for the people of Walewale.
According to Dr. Mahama, the first phase of the project will cover the following communities:
1. Bokuduri
2. Moshiefong
3. Zangum
4. Vuga
5. Yakura
6. Naatalafong
7. Sakori
8. Fungu
9. Daboya
10. Tiya
He noted that the initiative is being rolled out in phases, with more communities expected to benefit in subsequent phases.
“This is part of our agenda of prioritising the people and responding directly to their most pressing needs. Water is life, and no community should be left without it,” Dr. Mahama stated.
Residents in the beneficiary communities have long struggled with water scarcity, especially during the dry season, relying on distant streams and hand-dug wells.
The MP reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring equitable development across Walewale, with focus on water, health, education, and roads.
