The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana has confirmed the death of a third Ghanaian during the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
In a statement released on Thursday, May 29, the PAOG identified the deceased as 52-year-old Hajia Kubura Salifu. She died in Mina after a sudden illness, shortly after performing the Arafat ritual — a major component of the Hajj rites.
Her family has been notified, and she was buried in Saudi Arabia in line with Islamic customs for pilgrims who pass away during Hajj.
With her passing, three Ghanaian pilgrims have now died during this year’s pilgrimage.
The Pilgrims Affairs Office extended condolences to Hajia Salifu’s family, relatives, and friends, praying for strength and comfort as they mourn.
The Office also referenced Islamic belief that pilgrims who die in Mina are granted continuous reward for their Hajj until the Day of Judgment.
PAOG prayed for Allah’s forgiveness for the deceased, for her to be granted Jannatul Firdaus, and for patience and strength for her family.
