The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) says it has paid GH¢2.3 billion to holders of Cocoa Bills whose investments were affected by the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP).
According to COCOBOD, the payment completes its mandatory obligations to DDEP-affected bondholders for 2026.
The Board says the settlement is part of efforts to honour its financial commitments and strengthen the financial sustainability of the cocoa sector.
The latest payment comes after an earlier coupon payment of GH¢376.3 million made in March 2026, bringing the total amount paid to DDEP bondholders so far this year to GH¢2.68 billion.
The move is in line with government's broader efforts to restore investor confidence and financial stability following the DDEP.
COCOBOD also disclosed that it has fully cleared arrears owed to Cocoa Bill holders who did not participate in the DDEP.
In July 2026, the Board paid GH¢162 million to that group, bringing its outstanding obligations to non-DDEP holders to an end.
"Together, these payments demonstrate the Board's commitment to responsible financial management and the systematic settlement of its financial obligations as part of the broader effort to strengthen the financial sustainability of Ghana's cocoa sector, under the guidance of the Ministry of Finance," COCOBOD said in a statement on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
