Deputy Electoral Commission Chair for Corporate Affairs, Dr. Bossman Asare, has stepped down. His resignation takes effect July 31, 2026.
Government Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu shared the news on Monday, June 15, during the Government Accountability Series. He also confirmed that Samuel Tettey, the EC’s Deputy Chair in charge of Operations, has retired.
According to Kwakye Ofosu, Dr. Asare said in his resignation letter that he plans to return to academia and resume work at the University of Ghana. Dr. Asare thanked the President and Ghanaians for the chance to serve at the Commission.
The process to fill both vacancies is already underway. Kwakye Ofosu said a nominee has been sent to the Council of State for consideration. Once the Council completes its review, the replacement for Tettey will be announced. A separate process will then be used to fill Dr. Asare’s role.
The Electoral Commission is expected to release more details on the transition later.
