Minister for Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu has confirmed the extradition and arrival of former MASLOC CEO Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu to Ghana to serve her 10-year prison sentence.
In a post on Tuesday, the Minister outlined the timeline of events leading to her return.
In April 2024, the High Court convicted and sentenced Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu in absentia. By July 2024, the Government of Ghana had submitted an extradition request to the United States for her surrender.
After more than two years of court proceedings, US authorities notified Ghana of her surrender in January 2026. She arrived in Accra on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
He said, Officials of the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Prisons Service have taken her into custody. They are making the necessary preparations for her to begin her sentence.
He added that, the Attorney-General is scheduled to meet counterparts at the US Department of Justice for bilateral discussions on all pending extradition requests between Ghana and the United States.
The Minister’s update confirms earlier reports that the former MASLOC boss was convicted in 2024 for causing financial loss to the state during her tenure from 2013 to 2016.
Tamakloe-Attionu had been granted permission to travel to the US for medical treatment in 2021 while on trial but failed to return, leading to her trial and sentencing in absentia.
Her extradition marks a major milestone in one of Ghana’s most high-profile corruption cases involving a former state official.
