The Government of Ghana, through the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), will maintain the current producer price for cocoa in the 2025/26 Light Crop Season, despite falling global prices.
In a press release dated June 12, 2026, COCOBOD announced that purchases for the 2026 Light Crop Season will begin on Thursday, June 18, 2026. The directive was contained in a circular signed by Dr. Francis Baah, Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Agronomy and Quality Control.
*Key price points*:
- *GH¢1,241.76* per load of 30kg for Grade I and II cocoa beans
- *GH¢2,587.00* per bag of 64kg gross
- *GH¢41,392.00* per tonne, equivalent to 16 bags
COCOBOD said the decision shows government’s commitment to protecting farmers’ incomes and livelihoods amid the downward trend in international cocoa prices. By keeping the price stable, government aims to give farmers confidence and stability ahead of the new season.
The announcement has been shared with Licensed Buying Companies, COCOBOD management, relevant ministries, and other sector players to ensure smooth commencement of purchases nationwide.
