Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, Hon. Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has donated a cheque of GH₵330,000 to Oda Senior High School (ODASCO) to support the 1991 Year Group’s initiative to introduce modern steam-cooking technology in the school.
The presentation was made this morning at the school.
According to the MP, the donation is aimed at helping the school transition from the traditional firewood-based cooking system to a more modern, sustainable and health-friendly alternative.
“I donated a cheque of GH₵330,000 to Oda Senior High School (ODASCO) in support of the 1991 Year Group’s vision to introduce modern steam-cooking technology at the school,” he said.
Hon. Acquah noted that when completed, the project will significantly reduce air pollution on campus and safeguard the health of kitchen staff.
“I believe this initiative after completion will help reduce air pollution and protect the health of cooks by minimising their exposure to harmful smoke,” he stated.
He added that the project will also cut down the school’s dependence on firewood, thereby helping to curb indiscriminate tree felling and promoting environmental sustainability.
“The steam cooking project will also reduce reliance on firewood, helping to curb tree felling and promote a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable cooking environment for the school community,” he added.
