The Ministry of the Interior has suspended the operating licence of Kantanka Security Services Limited with immediate effect.
In a press release signed by Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the Ministry cited alleged use of unprescribed uniforms and unauthorised possession and use of firearms and ammunition by the company’s personnel. The incident happened on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Kwabenya in Accra while providing private security services.
Initial investigations pointed to possible breaches of the Police Service (Private Security Organisations) Regulations, 1992 (L.I. 1571).
The Ministry said using unapproved uniforms, firearms, and security gear is a serious breach with significant implications for public safety.
Kantanka Security Services must cease all operations immediately pending investigations.
All institutions are advised not to do business with the company until further notice.
The company must cooperate fully with the Ghana Police Service and provide all necessary information.
The Ministry stressed that the suspension is administrative and meant to protect public safety while investigations continue. Further action will depend on the outcome and relevant laws.
*Public Reminder*
The public should report any unlawful activity by Private Security Organisations to the nearest police station. PSOs were also reminded to comply with the Police Service’s February 5, 2026, notice on uniform compliance.
The Ministry said it will not hesitate to sanction any PSO that violates regulations.
