The leadership of Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana has denied claims that former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo was shot on its property, and alleged she drove into the gates before the incident on June 21.
In a statement titled “False Allegations and Incident on Church Property,” the church addressed social media reports about the event at its Kwabenya premises.
*Church: Adwoa Safo Hit Two Metal Gates*
According to the statement, a lawful church event was underway when Adwoa Safo arrived and “forcefully drove her vehicle into the entrance gates of the property.” The church said she struck two metallic gates, causing substantial damage.
Numerous worshippers and guests were present near the entrance, the statement added. The church said the actions created a serious risk to life and property. Security personnel intervened to prevent escalation and protect attendees.
*“No Such Shooting Occurred”*
Kristo Asafo said it was aware of media reports claiming Adwoa Safo was shot by her brother. The church rejected the allegations as false and misleading.
“To the best of our knowledge and based on information presently available to us, no such shooting occurred,” the statement read. It called for a thorough and impartial investigation by authorities.
The church urged the public to avoid conclusions based on unverified social media reports and allow law enforcement to establish the facts.
*Lawyer Alleges Adwoa Safo Fired First*
Separately, Nana Kofi Kantanka, lawyer for the Kristo Asafo Church, alleged that Adwoa Safo fired the first shot and rammed the gate of the venue with her car before the incident that reportedly left her injured.
The lawyer made the claim while recounting his version of events surrounding the shooting.
The Ghana Police Service had earlier confirmed it was investigating a shooting incident involving Adwoa Safo at Kwabenya, stating she sustained a gunshot injury to her left ear.
