The Narcotics Control Commission has confiscated over 2.3 tonnes of suspected cannabis worth GH¢1.18 million during a targeted operation in the Volta Region.
NACOC said the drugs were seized at Gbi-Wegbe near Hohoe after an intelligence-led raid on a farmhouse and warehouse believed to be used for storing illegal narcotics.
Officers recovered 2,372.38 kilograms of the suspected substance in the early hours of Sunday, May 31. The operation is part of NACOC’s drive to clamp down on drug production, transport, and distribution nationwide.
In a Facebook statement on Monday, June 1, the Commission said intelligence had directed them to the facility, which was allegedly stockpiling large quantities of cannabis.
Investigations are ongoing to track down and arrest those behind the illegal operation.
NACOC reiterated its commitment to safeguarding communities from drug trafficking and substance abuse, calling it a national priority.
