Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has officially opened a training programme on integrity and ethics for staff of the Parliamentary Service, stressing that integrity is the strongest safeguard against corruption.
The programme is jointly organised by the Legal and Governance Services Office, the Parliamentary Training Institute (PTI), and the Human Resource Department. It aims to promote integrity, ethical conduct, accountability, and professionalism within the Service.
Addressing participants, Speaker Bagbin said integrity remains one of the most valuable qualities in public service and the foundation on which public trust is built. He noted that public confidence is not automatic but must be earned through ethical behaviour and responsible actions.
He urged staff to fully engage in the training and apply the lessons in their daily duties, adding that they should help build a workplace culture rooted in ethics, accountability, and professionalism.
Clerk to Parliament Ebenezer Ahuman Djietror said the training was designed by the Legal and Governance Division under the Speaker’s guidance, following the Corruption Risk Mitigation Plan adopted in 2024.
“It seeks to enhance awareness and understanding of the code of conduct of public officers in grievance handling and processing of services,” Mr. Djietror stated.
He described Parliament as a bastion of democracy that must uphold the highest standards of transparency and accountability. He reminded staff that public service is a sacrifice rather than a profit-making venture, and called on them to serve with sincerity and dedication.
