Suhum Member of Parliament Hon. Frank Asiedu Bekoe, popularly known as “Protozoa,” has launched a major constituency empowerment initiative aimed at delivering on his 2024 campaign pledge to support women, youth, farmers, and traders.
The Suhum Constituency Empowerment Initiative was officially unveiled Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at the Church of Pentecost L.A. Nyarko Memorial Sanctuary in Suhum. The program is a partnership between the MP’s office, VisionFund Ghana, and YPS-Africa.
VisionFund Ghana, a microfinance and community development organization affiliated with World Vision International, is providing the technical backbone for the initiative. Its programs include microloans, savings schemes, agricultural financing, women’s economic empowerment, financial literacy and business training, insurance services, water and sanitation support, disaster recovery, digital financial inclusion, and youth wellbeing initiatives.
Koforidua Branch Manager of VisionFund, Mr. John Osei, led presentations at the launch, guiding participants on how to access the available support. The session was interactive, with constituents asking questions on business growth, livelihoods, and financial access.
Addressing the gathering via Zoom, Hon. Bekoe stressed that the program is non-partisan and open to every resident of Suhum. “This initiative is about economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, and financial inclusion for all,” he said. “During the 2024 campaign I pledged practical interventions for women, youth, farmers, traders, and vulnerable groups. Today we are turning that promise into results.”
The MP announced that similar engagements will be rolled out in Suhum Zone B, Akorabo, and Nankese to widen access across the constituency.
Chairman for the occasion, Barima Ayekotse Teinor II, Chief of Ayekotse, commended the MP and VisionFund Ghana for what he called a “transformative initiative,” expressing optimism about its impact on livelihoods.
The launch drew a cross-section of stakeholders including traditional leaders, clergy, Muslim leaders, Assembly Members led by Presiding Member Hon. Frank Danso, market women, drivers’ unions, okada riders, professionals, and youth groups.
